Our Work

Our work consists of two key areas:

Structured Workplace Learning

MWLP provides a brokerage service that allows some 2,800 Macarthur HSC students to participate in two weeks of learning in the workplace during Years 11 & 12. MWLP provides a convenient ‘one-stop-shop’ service for businesses, schools and TAFE colleges in addressing a significant (and mandatory) HSC learning need for courses in skill shortage areas such as Metal & Engineering, Retail, Construction, Business Services, Information Technology, Primary Industries, Hospitality, Tourism, Automotive and Entertainment. By being involved in Structured Workplace Learning, young people gain a better understanding of the world of work, and are given a chance to develop their technical and general employability skills in the workforce. MWLP is funded by the NSW Government to provide this service.

School Business Community Partnership Brokers

MWLP has been contracted by the Australian Government to work with education and training providers, business and industry, parents and families and community groups to foster a strategic, whole of community approach that supports young people’s learning and development. As Partnership Brokers, MWLP will broker sustainable, strategic partnerships between and among these key stakeholders to improve education and transition outcomes and support young people to remain engaged, or reengage, in education or training and realize their full potential.

In addition, MWLP has a Deed of Standing Offer for the Employment Panel of the Australian Government’s Indigenous Employment Program following a successful tender application in 2009. MWLP is hopeful that it will be able to use this opportunity to support the building of aspirations of Indigenous youth and to engage with Aboriginal parents and community groups in support of this goal.
