Outstanding Business of the Month:  Lowes Narellan

Lowes is a leading Australian menswear, young menswear and school wear retail chain. They are a family owned business, 100% Australian owned and have been operating for over 110 years.

It’s no wonder they’re so successful if Narellan Store Manager, Bob Ivastanin is anything to go by. His passion for his store and staff is outstanding. Bob believes in giving back to the community and has become a vital member of the MWLP program offering work placement to HSC students studying Retail.

The students are taken ‘under his wing’ and are exposed to many aspects of retail including tagging sizes, checking stock, hanging stock, merchandising, ordering, customer service and sales. It’s a tremendous opportunity for students to find out if the world of retail is suited to them.

Bob says “We’ve had fantastic work placement students from MWLP who fit right in, get on with the job and eventually we hired them.” Bob has a message for those businesses not taking advantage of this great program “Get involved – there’s always a diamond in the rough.”

As this month’s winner, Lowes Narellan will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on www.mwlp.com.au and thanks to Event Cinemas Campbelltown, Gold Class movie tickets.

To find out how your business can become involved in hosting HSC students for week-long work placements, please phone Peter Miller at MWLP on 4625 1863 or email peter.miller@mwlp.com.au

Areas of interest other than Retail are Automotive, Business Services, Construction, Entertainment, Hospitality, Information Technology, Metal & Engineering, Primary Industries and Tourism. It’s a great way to showcase your business and it’s free.
