Educators

Introduction

MWLP invites educators to engage and partner with us in pursuit of our mutual interest in maximising education and transition outcomes for Macarthur youth through our various program areas. MWLP can assist by facilitating the engagement of business and industry, parents and families and community groups, and by advocating innovation and good practice in support of this end.

Program Areas

Structured Workplace Learning

MWLP has been working in partnership with high schools and TAFE colleges across the Macarthur for more than fourteen years to facilitate work placements for HSC vocational education and training courses. These work placements are mandatory for Industry Curriculum Framework courses such as Automotive, Business Services, Construction, Entertainment, Hospitality, Information Technology, Metal & Engineering, Primary Industries, Retail and Tourism.

School Business Community Partnership Brokers

MWLP has been contracted by the Australian Government to broker sustainable, strategic partnerships between and among key stakeholders to improve education and transition outcomes for young people. A key outcome for educators is that all young people participate in challenging, relevant and engaging learning that broadens personal aspirations. MWLP is keen to work collaboratively with educators to pursue these important targets for Macarthur youth.

Testimonials

“I have had the pleasure of working closely with MWLP for several years. Most notably on a pioneering and highly successful program, Parents as Career Helpers, that has developed significant capacity in the local schools and community to promote and enhance the career development prospects of the young people of the Macarthur community. This organisation comprises a bunch of highly skilled, experienced and most importantly passionate professionals who are achieving real and lasting differences that are enhancing their local community. MWLP is truly an outstanding community organisation that is doing work of a calibre locally that has attracted international attention.”

Jim Bright, Professor of Career Education and Development, ACU, Partner, Bright and Associates.

“Both students and teachers alike are fortunate to have access to such a dedicated and supportive team at MWLP. Work placement is an invaluable experience for our students, who return to school eager to share what they have learnt whilst on work placement. It also enables them to utilise the skills learnt at school in ‘real situations’ ie in the industry setting. It is a credit to the businesses that take on our students and help nurture their career path."

Gemma Brislane, Hospitality Teacher, Magdalene Catholic High School.
