Campbelltown Aboriginal Jobs Compact Initiative
Did you know that Campbelltown/Macarthur has the 5th highest population of Aboriginal people in NSW? Unemployment among Aboriginal people in the area is 22%? The Aboriginal participation rate in Campbelltown was 4% lower than the rate among Aboriginal people across NSW; 1% lower than the rate there in 2001; and 15% lower than the rate among non-Aboriginal residents. Labour force participation affects a community’s income so it’s an important indicator of well-being. (Source: AANSW). MWLP is a proud member of the Campbelltown Aboriginal Jobs Compact Steering Committee which seeks to promote long term career and employment opportunities for local Aboriginal people. Businesses are encouraged to get involved. To find out more, contact Fidelma Rogers at Aboriginal Affairs NSW on 9219 0739 or at .
