Our work

Our work consists of three key areas:

Structured Workplace Learning: MWLP provides a brokerage service that allows some 2,800 Macarthur HSC students to participate in two weeks of learning in the workplace during Years 11 & 12. MWLP provides a convenient ‘one-stop-shop’ service for businesses, schools and TAFE colleges in addressing a significant (and mandatory) HSC learning need for courses in skill shortage areas such as Metal & Engineering, Retail, Construction, Business Services, Information Technology, Primary Industries, Hospitality, Tourism, Automotive and Entertainment. By being involved in Structured Workplace Learning, young people gain a better understanding of the world of work, and are given a chance to develop their technical and general employability skills in the workforce.

Career And Transition Support: MWLP facilitates the provision of career and transition support services for young people. We achieve this by working with local schools and education providers, careers advisers and other careers professionals and youth service providers to identify gaps and opportunities. Our work aims to add value to existing services. MWLP does not generally directly deliver services to young people and we do not case manage individuals.

Adopt a School Program: the Adopt a School Program supports projects that are usually focused upon a particular industry area. Businesses are encouraged to provide opportunities for projects to be developed in partnership with schools. The projects are intended to be based upon school-based learning, and add value by providing a ‘real world’ dimension to the learning. A practical outcome or ‘product’ typically results from such school/business partnerships.
