Parents and Carers should access and read this guide prior to their sons or daughters work placement as it contains important information about work placement. The guide can be accessed here - Parent & Carers Guide to Workplace Learning.
Workplacement is a compulsory part of your student’s HSC when studying a VET course. It is just as important as all their other assessment tasks.
The following are a few tips to help student have a successful workplacement:
- Make sure their insurance documents are signed (these documents will be provided by the school)
- Make sure they have the equipment they need eg. Workboots, hard hat, chef’s uniform, etc. (a Student Placement
- Details report will be provided which includes equipment/clothing needed).
- Have they arranged transport?
- Make sure they attend everyday & are punctual.
- If they are too sick to go to workplacement make sure they contact the host as well as their school – remember any hours absent will need to be made up even if they have a doctor’s certificate.
- Encourage them to go with a positive attitude – the more they put into their workplacement the more they will get out of it.
