April 2017 Bankstown Sports Club

Bankstown Sports is one of the largest clubs in NSW, supporting more than 40 local sporting clubs, over 6,000 individuals who participate in sport, as well as hundreds of local charities and community groups. It also has four associated venues; Baulkham Hills Sports Club, Birrong Sports Club, Bankstown Sports Bowls Club and The Acres Club, Greenacre, which collectively employ over 500 staff.

Bankstown Sports offers a fun and exciting dining and entertainment destination in Sydney’s southwest, featuring its own movie theatre, live shows, weekly entertainment, Monkey Mania indoor children’s play centre, and a wide variety of restaurants and bars.

For several years, the club has been hosting year 11 and 12 students who are studying Hospitality and Business Services subjects as part of their higher school certificate. These students are placed in either Greenfield Station Bistro kitchen or in the club’s administration offices, and Bankstown Sports Learning and Development Coordinator, Matt Costello, says they learn the basic skills needed to work in those fields.

“We believe in providing a fun, friendly and professional environment for the students who are placed with us, so they get to sample the hospitality industry and make an informed decision about their future.”

“Taking on work placement students has always been a positive experience for the club, as well as our members and guests.”

To find out how your business can get involved in hosting HSC students for week-long work placements, please phone Peter Miller at MWLP on (02) 4625 1863 or email peter.miller@mwlp.com.au

You could win promotion on C91.3FM, feature in the Macarthur Advertiser and win dinner for two at The Hermitage Restaurant.

Students also require work placement in other areas such as Automotive, Construction, Electrotechnology, Entertainment, Human Services, Information & Digital Technology, Metal & Engineering, Primary Industries Retail and Tourism.

It’s a great way to showcase your business and it’s free.
