Business of the month – April 2018 32 Degrees Building

32 Degrees Building specialises in helping clients achieve more space, either by additions or alterations to existing homes.  Established for some nine years and employing a team of 30, they are all about providing excellence in customer service.

One of their most recent strategies has been to create a 32 Degrees Building Training School.  They invest in people and culture and that is where MWLP Linking Youth’s Work Placement Program comes into play.

Owner and Managing Director, Alistair Robertson, offers students who are studying Construction as part of their Higher School Certificate, the opportunity to get some hands-on experience in the field and learn a little more about the industry in general.

In fact, Alistair offers two students, each and every week, this outstanding opportunity.

Alistair says “We need to take these students on and teach them values and standards.  Teach them to turn up on time, stretch themselves and become the best they can be.”

“We want to employ as many as we can and give them a proper introduction into the industry because we believe we are the best at what we do.”

Alistair has a message for businesses who are not yet, part of the MWLP Linking Youth Work Placement Program, “I believe they should look ahead 10 years and assess where they want to be – as it all starts with apprentices.  It’s a win/win situation.  We have hired about 5 or 6 students from the program.”
