August 2014 – Comentech

Established in 1984 Comentech specialises in the provision of quality sound, lighting and vision systems for the entertainment and events industry. These include theatre, corporate events, hotels, clubs, weddings, sporting events, trade exhibitions, bands and other live entertainment, community festivals and events.

Owner/Manager, Chris Vine, is keen to keep people connected to his industry.  Since 2011 he has been offering one week work placements to Year 11 and 12 students who are studying Entertainment as part of their Higher School Certificate.  He gets a buzz out of finding great students and has offered 11 students work on a casual basis.

Chris says “The MWLP program is a good way to find young people that are capable and enthusiastic.  I make an effort to get to know the students.  I take them out on jobs and get them running cables, setting up projectors and PA systems and putting up lights etc.  Quite often the students don’t have a realistic view of what is actually involved.  I think it’s worthwhile to teach them everything I can and I love to be asked questions.”

That is why Comentech is MWLP’s Business of the Month.  The students really enjoy their time with Chris and get to put into practice what they have learnt in the classroom.

As this month’s outstanding winner, Comentech will receive profiling in the Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly editions of the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on and thanks to United Cinemas Narellan, Grand Seating movie tickets.

Areas of interest other than Entertainment are Automotive, Business Services, Construction, Entertainment, Hospitality, Information Technology, Metal & Engineering, Primary Industries, Retail and Tourism.

It’s a great way to showcase your business and it’s free.  Business of the Month – Comentech
