Outstanding Business of the Month: PR & DL Worthington
MWLP is proud to work with so many accomplished Macarthur companies and PR & DJ Worthington is no exception, winning MWLP’s Business of the Month Award.
Owner and Director, Peter Worthington, has been in the domestic building industry for some 36 years. His expertise covers extensions, renovations and new houses.
Peter has been working with the MWLP program for two and a half years and has offered some 24 students real hands-on learning opportunities within his business since then.
Peter enjoys “seeing students turn up half asleep on a Monday morning at 6.00am not knowing what’s going to happen and then seeing them Friday morning at 6.00am full of enthusiasm and anxious to get on with the day’s work. Day one involves an induction for the student followed by some observation. Day two, the student receives a hammer and nail bag and supervised hands-on learning begins. The student is then shown all aspects of domestic construction.”
“I wish this type of hands-on learning was around when I went to school in the 1960s”, says Peter.
He adds “I can only say that local businesses should get behind this great opportunity to help young people to see if they will enjoy working in your business. I have always believed that it’s not hard for business to give a little back to the community.”
It’s a definite win/win situation for both the business and student. Peter’s current apprentice, Ben Healey, was hired after he completed work placement – a fantastic outcome.
As this months MWLP winner, PR & DJ Worthington will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3fm, exposure on MWLP’s website and thanks to Greater Union Macarthur, Gold Class movie tickets.
