February 2010 – Nepean Engineering

Outstanding Business of the Month: Nepean Engineering

A huge thank you goes to our February Business of the Month. Nepean Engineering is involved in all areas of mechanical engineering and construction and has been offering HSC students, studying Metal and Engineering, invaluable “hands on” learning experiences since 1999.

These students are required to do mandatory workplace learning as part of their course. Nepean Engineering staff take the time to demonstrate all facets of their business including CNC machining, general machining, light and heavy fabrication and assembly. Work is then tailored to the students needs and every now and then an outstanding student will be offered an apprenticeship.

Stephen Cantrill, Production Manager thinks highly of the Macarthur Workplace Learning Program students. “They are mature, interested, have more purpose and are very committed” says Steve.

David Fuller, Chairman of the Nepean Group of Companies says, “We are a locally based company and we achieve a great deal of satisfaction from helping the local youth of Macarthur”.

It is a great opportunity to showcase the industry and hopefully employ Macarthur youth in Macarthur. Nepean Engineering has 180 employees and the majority of staff live in Macarthur. They strongly believe in the local community, especially youth. Nepean Engineering has a message for other Macarthur businesses not yet involved in the MWLP program “Support our local youth as they are the future of our area”.

As this month’s winner, Nepean Engineering will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on www.mwlp.com.au and thanks to Event Cinemas Campbelltown, Gold Class movie tickets.

To find out how your business can become involved in hosting HSC students for week-long work placements, please phone Peter Miller at MWLP on 4625 1863 or email peter.miller@mwlp.com.au.

Areas of interest other than Metal & Engineering are Automotive, Business Services, Construction, Entertainment, Hospitality, Information Technology, Primary Industries, Retail, Sports Coaching and Tourism.

It’s a great way to showcase your business and it’s free.
