February 2012 – K-Mart Campbelltown

Outstanding Business of the Month: K-Mart Campbelltown

K-Mart is a national discount department store that sells everyday items for families at the lowest possible price.

K-Mart Campbelltown are wonderful supporters of  Macarthur’s youth offering two students every week the opportunity to experience ‘hands on’ working life.  The students are in either Year 11 or 12 and are studying Retail as part of their HSC.  It is compulsory for them to undertake this type of work placement and thanks to companies like K-Mart Campbelltown there are many quality outcomes.

Campbelltown Store Manager, Darryl Dallas says “The MWLP program allows us to ‘try before we buy’.  We get to see the students at work and can assess their attitudes, skills and passion for the job.  They work in areas of Receiving, Replenishment or Customer Service.  Over the years many students have gained casual employment and it’s a great way for them to work out if Retail is the right career for them”.

Darryl adds “We have been taking MWLP students since 2007 and it’s very rewarding to be able to make a significant difference to young people and their future”.

As this month’s outstanding winner, K-Mart Campbelltown will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on www.mwlp.com.au and thanks to United Cinemas Narellan, Grand Seating movie tickets.
