Outstanding Business of the Month: Harvey Norman Campbelltown
Harvey Norman is Australia’s leading retailer in Home Wares, Electrical and Computer needs, stocking a huge range of plasma and LCD TVs, computers, laptops, digital cameras, kitchen appliances, iPods and MP3 players. They have been in Campbelltown for 11 years and employ 25 staff.
Harvey Norman Campbelltown is an extraordinary contributor to the MWLP program offering one HSC student every week the opportunity to get real “hands on” experience in their busy computer section.
Tim Duggan, Manager, grew up in the Macarthur and knows the importance of workplace preparation for young people – so he goes out of his way to give students a valuable experience. Tim ensures students not only know how to do the task they are set but also why and how eventually it all leads to excellent customer service.
Even though Harvey Norman is a massive Australia wide business, Tim feels it’s very important to be part of, and give back to, the local community. Tim says “It’s a great program. The students are keen and well mannered. They eagerly take on the smaller tasks that free up our technicians and sales people to concentrate on more complex tasks. We have been so impressed with the calibre of the students we offered one student casual employment and he has now been trained to work in all our departments. “
As this month’s outstanding winner, Harvey Norman Campbelltown will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on www.mwlp.com.au and thanks to Event Cinemas Campbelltown, Gold Class movie tickets.
