June 2016 Fans Computers

Congratulations to Fans Computers who has won MWLP’s Business of the Month.

Established in 1995, Fans Computers has been servicing the Macarthur region with great products, friendly service, latest technology and low prices.  Whether it be an upgrade of an existing computer, repair or virus removal, they are here to help.

The friendly service is also extended to Year 11 and 12 students who are studying Information Digital Technology as part of their Higher School Certificate.  Fans Computers has been offering week long work placements to students since 2004 and believes the program is definitely a win/win.

Manager, Cameron Wheatley, says “All of the students seem to really enjoy their time here.  We tailor the work to suit the student.  They take on the small jobs which free up staff to concentrate on the more complicated tasks.  They can be boring for us but exciting for them.  The students definitely add value to our business.  Some even come back to buy parts and it is great to hear that they have gone on to secure some exciting positions in their field.”

Cameron adds “The students bring us variety and a different perspective.  They complete virus scans and install operating systems and programs.  Some students even get to play games to ensure systems aren’t crashing.”

Mount Annan High School student, Mitchell Mostyn, recently completed his work placement with Fans Computers.  Mitchell says “I really enjoyed my week here.  I got to google repairs and undertake some research.  I am currently building my own computer at home and learnt how to better protect my own computer from viruses.  I definitely want a career in this field.”

Cameron recommends the Work Placement Program to all businesses.  “MWLP streamlines all the students and paperwork.  It’s easy.”
