March 2013 – Campbelltown Golf Club

Campbelltown Golf Club is more than just one of the best golf courses in NSW; it is a cafe, bistro, function centre, wedding venue and great social setting for family and friends.

The Club has been offering one week work placements to HSC students in Macarthur, who are studying Hospitality, since 2009.  Head Chef, Darren Neate, says “We like to support HSC students to let them know of their options.  Life isn’t just in a class room and straight into an office cubicle for the rest of your life.  There are jobs out there that offer you the world and our industry is just one of them.”

Darren adds “You can make a difference in someone’s life just by mentoring them for one week.  It will help you, and the student, grow and mature as an individual.  We have had some excellent students resulting in us hiring four waitresses, one kitchen hand and multiple apprentices – all from the MWLP program.”

Students are given variety during their week including cleaning, prepping, cooking, waitressing, physical hard labour and even driving golf buggies to select herbs straight from their garden.

As this month’s outstanding winner, Campbelltown Golf Club will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on and thanks to United Cinemas Narellan, Grand Seating movie tickets.

To find out how your business can become involved in hosting HSC students for week-long work placements, please phone Peter Miller at MWLP on 4625 1863 or email

Areas of interest other than Hospitality are Automotive, Business Services, Construction, Entertainment, Financial Services, Information Technology, Metal & Engineering, Primary Industries, Retail and Tourism.

It’s a great way to showcase your business and it’s free.
