Congratulations to Vaby’s Mediterranean Grill at Picton who has won MWLP’s Business of the Month.
It seems all MWLP winners have something in common and that is passion.
Owner/Manager/Chef Dom Ocheduszko is not only passionate about his restaurant but is extremely ardent about Macarthur’s young people.
Dom enjoys offering Year 11 and 12 students one-week work placements in his restaurant. The students are studying Hospitality as part of their Higher School Certificate and they get to experience real working life in the kitchen preparing food, chopping, light cooking, plating and cleaning. He will even tailor the work to suit the student’s skill level and interest.
Dom says “The Work Placement is a good trial. I can assess the suitability of the student in the week they are here. Many of them have been offered casual work and are still working here today. It is a great way for young people to see if they want to be in the Hospitality trade. They can even bring you business. They tell their friends and parents to come and check us out – which is always a good thing.”
Vaby’s Mediterranean Grill is open seven days for both lunch and dinner and also caters for weddings, birthday parties, school formals, etc. They also own the Old Cheese Factory Wedding & Function centre.
