Outstanding Business Winner: John Warby Public School
The excellent feedback from MWLP work placement students has won John Warby Public School this month’s Award.
JohnWarby is a preschool to Year 6 Public School situated in Airds. Their motto is Happiness through Learning and that is definitely evident from the moment you enter the school.
Dedicated staff provides excellent work experiences for students from High Schools across Macarthur who are studying either Business Services or Information Technology as part of their HSC.
The students undertake a week-long placement at the school where work is tailored to their interests and ability. Imagine – a few years ago you were a student attending John Warby Public School and next you are in the Staff room being treated as an equal with the teachers. This is what the program is all about – offering students real and practical hands-on work experiences.
Deputy Principal, Julie Bourke says “We all had to start somewhere and work placement is an ideal way for young adults to get a taste of potential careers. The more businesses there are providing positive early work experiences, the more young people will learn to enjoy their lives in meaningful employment.”
Julie also has a simple message for businesses not yet involved in the MWLP Work Placement Program and that is “Get involved!”
As this month’s outstanding winner, John Warby Public School will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on www.mwlp.com.au and thanks to United Cinemas Narellan, Grand Seating movie tickets.
