Panarottis Macarthur Square, established in 2006,is a family business employing some 45 employees. Not only are they passionate about the quality of their Italian inspired meals, they are passionate about youth.
Owner, Peter Gossayn, has been offering Year 11 and 12 students, who are studying Hospitality as part of their HSC, the opportunity to undergo work placement in his restaurant. Two students every week are offered this wonderful opportunity.
Peter hopes by putting time and effort into young people that they will come to love the industry as much as he does. He wants Macarthur’s youth to be inspired by his business and hopefully want to come and work for him. The students get a total experience from washing dishes, food preparation, cooking their own meal and even spending a day on the floor.
Peter thinks the MWLP program is “beautiful”. “The students are of a very high standard. They are enthusiastic and have a very good work ethic. I have employed many students from the program as casuals or as apprentice chefs. It’s a great way to assess students and you get to challenge the really good ones,” he adds.
Peter also has a message for any employers that aren’t a part of the MWLP program. “Take the kids; take as many as you can and make them love your industry.”
As this month’s outstanding winner, Panarottis will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on www.mwlp.com.au and thanks to United Cinemas Narellan, Grand Seating movie tickets.
