Outstanding Business of the Month: Campbelltown RSL
David Rogers and his team at Campbelltown RSL have proven that they are exceptionally dedicated to the youth of Macarthur.
Campbelltown RSL has been involved with Macarthur Workplace Learning Program (MWLP) since 2001 and during this time has given 200 hospitality students the opportunity to experience real ‘hands on’ learning in the workplace.
David Rogers, Executive Chef, takes the time to get to know each student and their career aspirations. Budding chefs are given the opportunity to work with David and learn the tricks of the trade that David himself learnt from some of the best (and toughest) chefs in Sydney.
David says “Our organisation is proud to be a supporter of local students gaining hands on knowledge in the hospitality industry and, in turn, those students help us to provide our services to the community. It’s a win-win situation. I know how valuable work placement was for me personally in helping me gain employment in the Macarthur area.”
“Every week it is gratifying to read the comments the students make in their journals about the Club and staff. General comments are about how well the staff has treated them and how much they have enjoyed their work placement. It is also very satisfying to see that we’ve had a positive influence on someone wanting to get into the industry.”
David has a message for businesses that are not yet involved with MWLP “Get involved. Help your local community and provide hands on experience to young people who will soon enter the workforce. You will see how rewarding it is and the feeling you get when they thank you for training and supporting them is great. It is just part of our weekly routine now. We look forward to meeting them and hearing their stories. I think we have passed the 200 mark now and we will continue to show our support for the program.”
Campbelltown RSL is a registered club that provides members, families, their guests and visitors with high quality service and facilities whilst maintaining value for money. They have a Family Food Court that seats 300, a cafe/coffee shop and an award winning function facility, the Caresele Function Centre.
As MWLP Host of the Month Campbelltown RSL will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, 30 days free advertising on C91.3fm, exposure on MWLP’s website and thanks to Greater Union Macarthur, Gold Class movie tickets.
