East Coast Brackets specialise in brackets for garages and sheds and has been established in Macarthur for over three years.
They offer Year 11 and 12 students, who are studying Metal & Engineering as part of their Higher School Certificate, the opportunity to undertake one week’s work placement in their factory.
The students really enjoy the variety of work they are given. Tasks vary from guillotining, turret punching, bending, welding, programming, packing and despatch.
Owner/Manager, Andrew McLoughlin has been a part of the MWLP program since mid 2012 and really enjoys giving back to Macarthur’s community.
Andrew says “I remember the opportunity I was given when I was younger. It’s how I got into the trade. It’s great to be in a position where I can pass on some skills. Some of the work placement kids have come back as paid casuals. They are also appreciative of the time we put into them. They fit into our team well. I have even been given a box of chocolates.”
Andrew adds “MWLP takes care of all the paperwork. I get a calendar with the dates and names of the students. I would recommend it to other employers.”
As this month’s outstanding winner, East Coast Brackets will receive profiling in the Macarthur Chronicle, one month’s free advertising on C91.3FM, exposure on www.mwlp.com.au and thanks to United Cinemas Narellan, Grand Seating movie tickets.
